Downstairs at Bar Franco · Christchurch CBD
The Italian art of the pre-dinner drink — a spritz, a Negroni, a little something to nibble, and the easy hum of the evening getting started. This is aperitivo, and Bar Franco is its home in central Christchurch.
The ritual
Cinque a Sette — five to seven. The Italian window between the workday and dinner, made for a spritz, a snack and good company. Join us nightly at the bar. Full details coming soon.

Where it happens
Aperitivo lives downstairs at the Spritz & Negroni Bar — low-lit, easy and built around the pour. Pull up a stool for a drink and a plate, then head upstairs for dinner when you're ready. More coming soon.
The house pour
Equal parts gin, Campari and vermouth, stirred down and served with a twist — the Negroni is the house ritual and the heart of aperitivo at Franco. Full tasting notes coming soon. See the full list on our menus.
Good to know
Our Cinque a Sette aperitivo runs 5 to 7 nightly, and the bar is open daily from 4pm, till late. Drop in after work for a spritz and a bite before dinner upstairs.
No — walk in and pull up a stool at the Spritz & Negroni Bar. If you're bringing a group or would like to stay for dinner, it's best to book a table.
Cicchetti and Italian bar snacks to go with your drink — olives, focaccia, arancini and salumi. Ask what's on tonight, or see the drinks menu for spritzes, Negronis and wines by the glass.
